As Executive Director of the Bowie Crofton and Severna Park Pregnancy Clinics, I take great issue with the story on pregnancy centers based entirely on hearsay. I am very accessible and was never contacted by any reporter, including Shantee Woodards, regarding these false accusations. In the last two years, I have done interviews with The Washington Post, The New York Times, and CNN. Why didn't the Capital reporter simply call on the phone as they did?

As a medical clinic with licensed Ob/Gyn, Physician Assistant, and RN's, we give complete and accurate information and treat our patients with care and compassion. We do not receive any funding from the State of Maryland or the Federal Government, nor do we charge for any of our services, which are free to anyone in need. We believe all women are entitled to complete information on all their choices and in fact offer women considering abortion a 3d Ultrasound to determine pregnancy viability.

We are a 501(c)3 non profit, a registered Charity in Maryland, members of local Chambers of Commerce, Maryland Nonprofits, Human Services Coalition of Prince George's County, and work with Prince George's and Anne Arundel County Departments of Health in offering free STD/HIV testing.

Our Life Sense program partners with Johns Hopkins Priority Partners in offering 15 different free classes. Each year, we serve over 1,000 people in need--over 20,000 since opening.

This bill hurts women and is based on individuals lying about who they were - not real clients. In 26 years, we have never received one complaint from a real client, yet the Capital prints this type of article without checking any facts. NARAL represents abortion providers who charge for their services and spew unsubstantiated accusations against non profit pregnancy centers who give free services.

This poorly researched story does a disservice to the people of Annapolis and all the readers of the Capital.
